Exotic Chef and Author Aliya Leekong Talks Rare Italian Cookbooks with Italy In Bocca π
Ever since Aliya Leekong made me her Fried PB&J she has become one of my absolute favorite people and is so very talented. A writer of exotic cookbooks, a prominent superstar TV chef, and even the creator of a new food-inspired preschool brand Issa's Edible Adventures, this multi-cultural powerhouse has always inspired me to think outside the lunchbox, so I was very excited to hear what sheβs discovered in this new normal, and chat about Italy In Bocca, a series of 20 cardboard bound, illustrated Italian cookbooks printed by Il Vespro in 1976. These books are magical, from their story, to their art, and right down to their amazing, unique and delicious recipes. They have been an inspiration to us, and have connected us to some of the most fantastic people, bringing us together and closer to a country that has given us so much, Italy. This is an ongoing interview series with chefs, celebrities, epicureans, and just interesting people, to learn what these books mean to them, how their relationship with food has changed during the quarantine, and to just check in and get a bit inspired.
